Legendary R&B Group Solid Reimagines Iconic Hit with Brown Eyed Soul’s Youngjun

Legendary Korean R&B group Solid is back in the spotlight as their 1996 hit song, You’re My First and Last, receives a modern remake under the brand High-Heels (HIGHKOLOR). As part of the brand’s second musical project, the song is reintroduced with emotional depth and a refreshed sound by Brown Eyed Soul‘s Youngjun.

This remake holds special meaning, not just for fans of 90s Korean R&B, but for Solid member Jae Yoon Jung himself (정재윤), who took part in the arrangement process. Jung revealed his excitement, saying, “You’re My First and Last was Solid’s first R&B rock ballad, giving it unique significance for me. Being part of someone else’s reinterpretation of a song I created is both thrilling and emotional.”

In this version, Jung emphasized keeping the original structure intact while adapting the sound for a new generation. “I wanted to pass on the emotional core of the song to those hearing it for the first time,” he said. “Luckily, we were able to recover the original session files from 30 years ago, which allowed us to re-record all the instruments with contemporary audio techniques while preserving the song’s soul.”

Speaking about Youngjun‘s vocal rendition, Jung added, “It felt incredibly fresh. The blend of past and present sensibilities created a seamless emotional journey in a single track.”

The modern version of the track will provide nostalgic fans and new listeners alike an emotionally rich space to reconnect or discover this gem. “For those who remember the original version, this remake offers a refined and updated emotional experience,” said Jung. “Personally, I’m glad to revisit the song once again; it feels both nostalgic and exciting.”

Now based in California, Jung continues to work internationally, collaborating with artists across Asia — including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. He previously reunited with Solid in 2018 for an album and concert series, delighting fans worldwide after a long hiatus.

The second volume of High-Heels’ project, You’re My First and Last, performed by Brown Eyed Soul’s Youngjun, is set for release on all major streaming platforms on the 18th at 6 PM KST.
