Lee Seung-gi and Lee Hong-ki Take Home Victory on ‘Immortal Songs’ with Electrifying Duet
South Korean music variety program Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend aired a special episode titled 2025 Oh My Star that saw fierce competition among celebrity duos, culminating in an intense win by actors and singers Lee Seung-gi and Lee Hong-ki.
Airing on June 17 via KBS2, the episode drew a nationwide viewership rating of 6.1% and a Seoul metropolitan rating of 6.2%, once again securing the top slot for its time slot, according to media analytics firm Nielsen Korea.
Performing as a duet for the first time in 21 years and 12 years respectively, Lee Seung-gi and Lee Hong-ki teamed up to deliver a dynamic version of WOODZ‘s hit track Drowning. Their synergy was palpable as they traded rock-inspired vocals and powerful harmonies, culminating in an explosive climax that left both the audience and judges in awe. Notably, Lee Seung-gi’s high notes during the acapella section created a spine-chilling atmosphere that stole the spotlight.
This performance earned the duo an impressive score of 418 points, dethroning previous frontrunners Kim Junsu and Choi Su-ho, who had maintained a winning streak with their lively rendition of Song Chang-sik’s Whales Hunting.
The special featured multiple star duets, including Hong Ja and Lee Su-yeon performing Im Hee-sook’s My One Person Is Gone, as well as powerful ballads and genre-spanning mashups from Park Wan-kyu, Baek Cheong-kang, and more.
Closing the lineup, Choi Seong-su and Ahn Seong-hoon presented Kim Hyun-sik’s Creating Memories, fusing generational styles through soulful duets, with orchestral backing amplifying the emotional impact of their heartfelt harmonies.
Emerging victorious, Lee Seung-gi and Lee Hong-ki not only showcased remarkable artistry and chemistry but also advanced to the show’s prestigious First-half King of Kings Tournament. Their win marked a high note in both of their TV comeback journeys, leaving fans eager to see more.
