Lee Min-jung Makes Heartfelt Variety Show Comeback with ‘From Lee with Love’
Beloved Korean actress Lee Min-jung is back on television, this time embracing the warmth of human connection in the new KBS variety program From Lee with Love (가는정 오는정 이민정), which premiered on June 16 at 9:50 PM KST.
The press conference, held at the KBS Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, welcomed the show’s production team and main cast, including Lee Min-jung, Ahn Jae-hyun, Kim Jung-hyun, Kim Jae-won, and director Hwang Sung-hoon.
This heartwarming show chronicles the journey of a mobile convenience store traveling to remote villages, offering supplies and emotional connection. The dynamic “Jeong-siblings” team—Lee Min-jung, Boom, Ahn Jae-hyun, Kim Jung-hyun, and Kim Jae-won—embark on their first mission in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.
Director Hwang shared his motivation behind the casting: “Boom always supports my projects, and Ahn Jae-hyun holds universal popularity. Kim Jung-hyun was recommended by mutual contacts, and Kim Jae-won has the aura of a rising star.”
Lee Min-jung, the show’s main host, humorously recounted being approached six years ago for Fun-Staurant, and finally committing to this project, known for its physically demanding nature. “I thought I could take a break from parenting and recharge, but ended up cooking for 60 people,” she laughed. “Despite the pressure, I managed, and it felt empowering.”
Known for her elegant persona, Lee Min-jung is showing a different side with her authentic presence and blooming comedic timing, having recently ventured into YouTube content creation. “Boom takes the ‘Lee Min’ role and I take care of the ‘Jeong’,” she joked, adding how the show’s outdoor setting highlights natural and sincere moments.
She also shared how her husband, actor Lee Byung-hun, supported her through voice recordings in the tone of his Our Blues character, and by taking over parenting duties during shoots.
Fellow cast member Kim Jung-hyun, nicknamed So Jung-hyun, reflected on his first fixed variety show appearance. “It was refreshing to interact with kind people and nature,” he shared. Ahn Jae-hyun also praised Lee Min-jung for her on-set leadership and humor, likening her to a sports coach guiding the team with tact and laughter. Meanwhile, Kim Jae-won, the rookie in the group, was excited for the opportunity to show his real self outside of acting roles.
Ahn Jae-hyun also teased a lineup of special guests, including Wi Ha-joon, Park Gyu-young, Shin Dong-yup, and Lee Chan-won, noting that the mix of locals and stars created a unique synergy. “It’s a show full of energy and spirit,” he said.
Wrapping up, Lee Min-jung emotionally shared, “When the elders held my hand, I deeply felt their life stories. Returning that love was truly touching. I hope this show continues to spread warmth and connection.”
