Lee Jun-young Shines in Hilariously Buff Role in ’24 Hours Health Club’

Korean actor Lee Junyoung shows his versatile charm in the drama 24 Hours Health Club airing on KBS2

Korean actor Lee Jun-young has taken his acting versatility to a new level with a comedic twist in the new KBS2 drama ’24 Hours Health Club’, which premiered on May 30th. Playing Do Hyun-jung, a former world-class bodybuilder turned reluctant gym manager, Lee brings both laughter and depth to the screen.

’24 Hours Health Club’ follows the story of a gym-obsessed but warm-hearted trainer, Do Hyun-jung, who helps gym newbies overcome personal struggles with quirky, relentless support. Described as a “muscular comic romance,” the drama blends physical comedy, fitness culture, and emotional healing.

In the first episode, Hyun-jung is seen handing out flyers in the street when he first meets Mirae, a distraught woman mid-breakup, played by Jeong Eun-ji. In a hilariously bold move, Hyun-jung approaches her with a gym flyer saying, “You won’t regret it.” The interaction spirals into a series of comedic encounters, including a moment where he holds her waist mid-fall and coldly murmurs her height and weight stats—“162.7cm, 62.8kg.”

Further absurdity ensues when Mirae tries to leave, thinking she’s at a nightlife club, only for Hyun-jung to assert, “It is a club—a hell club for fat cells,” complete with a maniacal grin.

In another scene, when hot water cuts out during members’ showers, Hyun-jung brightly insists, “It’s perfect. Cold showers boost immunity, improve circulation, and speed up metabolism!” His zeal amuses and baffles the members, affirming his status as a certified gym fanatic.

Flashbacks reveal his training under the intense guidance of the gym’s previous owner, Han Chul (played by Choi Moo-sung), with harsh drills and strict discipline, hinting at a deeper backstory.

Lee Jun-young’s performance adds a new layer to his growing acting resume, which includes an exciting lineup of 2024 projects such as Netflix’s ‘Melodrama Movie’, ‘Beg Your Pardon’ (폭싹 속았수다), and the highly anticipated season 2 of ‘Weak Hero Class 2’. His effortless switch to comedy showcases his expansive range and star power in the Korean entertainment sphere.

’24 Hours Health Club’ airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 PM KST on KBS2.
