Lee Jong-suk Shines in ‘Singles’ Magazine: Embracing Mystery and Transformation
South Korean actor Lee Jong-suk graces the latest issue of fashion magazine Singles, radiating calm charisma and mysterious allure in an exclusive photoshoot. The star’s refined styling, including eyewear prominently featured in the shoot, reflects his meticulous approach to his latest role in the upcoming drama Seocho-dong.
“For the first time, I’m playing a character who wears glasses,” Lee shares. “Once a look is chosen for the character, I need to wear those glasses throughout the entire series. I recently saw Lindberg frames worn by another drama lead, and when I got the opportunity for this shoot, I was excited to wear them.”
Returning to television after a three-year hiatus since Big Mouth, Lee brings to life another lawyer character — but with a twist. “Unlike Big Mouth, this isn’t centered around high-stake courtroom action. Seocho-dong is a warm, everyday drama focused more on human connection. The character I play didn’t choose his profession for dramatic reasons — that’s what sets it apart,” he explains.
When asked what he gained from the project, Lee pointed to his co-stars: Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Im Sung-jae. “The five of us are the main leads. I didn’t just discover a new side of myself — I discovered amazing actors. This drama doesn’t rely on heavy plots or emotional surges. It’s the kind of story where just having a meal together feels complete. That made our on-set chemistry even more meaningful.”
Looking toward 2024, a year symbolically linked to his zodiac sign, the Snake, Lee expresses hopeful anticipation. “Maybe because it’s the Year of the Snake, I feel good things are coming,” he laughs. “Though I considered taking more time off, I knew people were waiting for me. So I made a plan to really commit to work this year. I’ve been consciously choosing challenging and unfamiliar roles — and even if I haven’t shown them yet, they mean a lot to me.”
Next on his horizon is the much-awaited adaptation of the beloved web novel The Second Marriage. “Because the original work is so popular, it feels like a big challenge for everyone — the director, actors, and crew. But that makes it all the more exciting,” Lee says. “I’m going to fully trust the director’s vision and follow through with everything that’s required.”
With versatility, commitment, and a vision for storytelling beyond appearances, Lee Jong-suk continues to evolve — reaffirming why he remains one of Korea’s most compelling screen presences.
