Lee Do Hyun Makes Triumphant Return with Best New Actor Win at Director’s Cut Awards
Just days after completing his military service, South Korean actor Lee Do Hyun is making headlines with a major win at the 23rd Director’s Cut Awards. On June 20, Lee was named Best New Actor of the Year for his role in the blockbuster film FAMOY.
The Director’s Cut Awards, hosted by the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK), holds special significance as nominees and winners are selected directly by Korean film directors. This prestigious recognition adds even more weight to Lee’s growing reputation as a versatile and powerful actor.
In FAMOY, a supernatural mystery thriller, Lee Do Hyun portrays a shaman named Bong-gil, who participates in a ritual to relocate an eerie burial site for a large sum of money. The film captivated over 11.91 million viewers, instantly propelling Lee to the elite club of Korea’s “Ten Million Actors”.
Though FAMOY marks his film debut, Lee already earned acclaim for his acting during his military service when he won Best New Actor in the Film category at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2023.
This momentum continues as Lee prepares to launch his first post-military Asia Fan Meeting Tour, titled “Re DO HYUN.” The tour will kick off on June 14–15 at Sungshin Women’s University Eunjeong Green Campus in Seoul, then travel to Jakarta (June 28), Osaka (July 4), Tokyo (July 6), Taipei (July 12), Bangkok (July 19), Hong Kong (July 26), and Manila (August 2).
With a critically acclaimed film debut and an ambitious fan meeting tour in the works, Lee Do Hyun is firmly establishing his status as one of Asia’s most promising actors.
