Labor Attorney No Moo-jin: A Ghostly Contract and an Unlikely Hero Duo

MBC fantasy comedy Labor Attorney No Moojin stars Jung Kyung ho and Tang Jun sang in supernatural tale

MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday fantasy drama Labor Attorney No Moo-jin is set to premiere on June 30 at 9:50 PM KST, bringing with it a supernatural twist on workplace justice. The show combines comedy, mystery, and labor rights as its protagonist finds himself inadvertently tied to a contract with the dead — literally.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lim Soon-rye, known for My Dear Desperado and Negotiation, the series marks her first foray into television. She’s joined by scriptwriters Kim Bo-tong (D.P.) and Yoo Seung-hee (I Can Speak), promising a profound yet playful narrative.

The drama centers on Moo-jin, played by Jung Kyung-ho, a labor attorney who unexpectedly begins seeing ghosts after a mysterious encounter with a young man named Bosal, portrayed by Tang Jun-sang. The first stills released reveal Moo-jin in a surreal otherworldly space, visibly stunned, as he meets Bosal — outfitted in retro denim and holding Moo-jin’s business card with eerie confidence.

It’s this enigmatic meeting that kickstarts Moo-jin’s ability to see spirits — specifically, laborers who’ve died from industrial accidents. Bosal offers Moo-jin a life-saving deal in exchange for signing a mysterious employment contract. Unaware of the consequences, Moo-jin agrees, setting off a chain of bizarre and heartstring-pulling events as he becomes a labor attorney for the dead.

Producers of the drama tease that this “contract under duress” triggers a unique “Korean-style workplace ghost story” where Moo-jin must solve unjust death cases in hopes of restoring peace for both the living and the dead. The dynamic between the bewildered Moo-jin and the socially awkward, clairvoyant Bosal forms a comedic yet touching ‘master-servant chemistry’ (also known as ‘gap-eul’ chemistry, referencing Korean labor hierarchy slang).

“The mysterious identity of Bosal and whether he’s here to torture or save Moo-jin will be a central question,” say producers. They promise that the first episode holds the key and “should not be missed.”

Labor Attorney No Moo-jin premieres June 30 on MBC.
