Koreas Trot Queen Song Ga-in Brings Heartwarming Charm to Local Market YouTube Series
In a delightful new upload from the YouTube channel ‘YouTuboom’ on June 12 at 4 PM KST, Korea’s trot sensation Song Ga-in joined TV personality Boom to explore Tongin Market—a nostalgic hotspot in Seoul filled with traditional flavors and community spirit.
Upon her arrival, Song Ga-in surprised onlookers by delivering a touching impromptu live performance of ‘Eomma Arirang’, instantly drawing the admiration and applause of the market’s vendors and shoppers.
One vendor called her “Korea’s true trot icon,” while others praised her with words like “so beautiful.” Song responded with bright smiles, spreading warmth and laughter throughout the market. Many vendors even offered her food, expressing their deep affection in heartfelt gestures.
During the market tour, Song Ga-in sat down for an interview with Boom and shared her excitement over launching her own YouTube channel. “YouTube is so much fun these days. I keep thinking about what to vlog next,” she said cheerfully.
She also discussed her latest album, the full-length 4th studio release titled ‘Gain;Dal’, which is already gaining traction both in Korea and abroad. When Boom mentioned international interest, Song playfully remarked, “I guess it’s time to go overseas,” and treated viewers to a surprise live rendition of her track ‘Asadal’.
The conversation turned sentimental as she reflected on her experience competing in TV Chosun’s ‘Miss Trot Season 1’. Recalling a particularly tough performance at a military base where she sang ‘Tears’ while battling vocal strain, Song said, “My voice was gone, but since our team was last, I wanted to give my best shot to turn the tables.”
When asked about junior talents who caught her eye, she named Yoo Ji-woo, saying, “I was cleaning when I saw her performance by chance and was completely captivated. She’s amazing.” On fellow artist Kim Yong-bin, she added, “He’s always been a talented singer. I knew his time would come.”
To wrap up her visit, Song Ga-in offered fans and on-site citizens a mini live concert, singing medleys of her greatest hits, further affirming her place as the beloved queen of trot music.
