Korean Singer Bobby Kim Faces Criticism After Surprise Concert Fails to Attract Audience

Korean singer Bobby Kim canceled a campus concert due to poor attendance and online criticism

Bobby Kim, a prominent South Korean R&B artist, recently attempted to connect with fans through a surprise guerrilla concert held at Korea University. However, the event, which relied on gathering at least 100 people spontaneously, was abruptly canceled when only four audience members showed up.

Featured through his YouTube channel ‘Studio Hey,’ the video drew mixed reactions. While some fans expressed sadness over the turn of events, others criticized the production team for poor event planning. The concert coincided with a major university broadcast festival, which many students cited as a reason for the low turnout.

Despite the setback, Bobby Kim remained composed. In his video, he stated, “I expected this might happen, but it’s still disappointing.” After calmly packing up his instruments, he promised to try again, saying in the comments section, “Things that go right the first time aren’t fun. I’ll come back with 1,000 or 10,000 fans.”

The incident has sparked widespread online chatter, mainly focusing on the YouTube channel’s apparent oversight in clashing with school events. Many viewers questioned whether the producers had taken the university schedule into account before organizing the concert.

Bobby Kim made his long-awaited comeback this April with a new mini-album titled ‘Part of Me,’ marking his return after a three-year hiatus. It remains to be seen whether his next guerrilla performance can turn past disappointment into triumph.
