An Unexpected Turnaround in World of Street Woman Fighter 3

The Korean dance team ‘BeomJeop’, participating in the widely popular Mnet reality show World of Street Woman Fighter 3 (referred to as ‘스우파3’), has taken the global stage by storm, overcoming early criticism and garnering significant acclaim. Recently, their choreography video topped YouTube’s ‘Trending Videos’, marking a significant achievement for the team.

Remarkable ‘Mega Crew’ Performance

On October 18th, Mnet’s YouTube channel ‘The Choom’ released the ‘Mega Crew’ dance videos of the five participating teams. The Korean team’s video surpassed 6 million views in just one day, clinching the top spot on YouTube’s ‘Trending Videos’. The video presented an unprecedented large-scale dance performance themed around the traditional Korean folklore of ‘Grim Reapers’.

Fans worldwide have flooded the comment section with enthusiastic praises, such as “A performance worthy of national heritage” and “BeomJeop’s mega crew video should be listed as an intangible cultural asset”. This overwhelming support comes after the team faced criticism early in the competition, receiving labels as the underperformers of the show.

Overcoming Challenges

Japanese team leader Riehata of ‘RHTokyo’ had previously remarked that “BeomJeop’s members seem unfit for this global competition”. However, this narrative shifted dramatically following the release of their ‘Mega Crew’ performance, showcasing a striking transformation that epitomizes the ‘underdog story’ fundamental to captivating reality TV.

Global Competition

In the fierce competition of the ‘Mega Crew’ missions, BeomJeop leads with dominating views. As of October 19th, the Japanese team ‘OsakaOJGang’ followed with 4.14 million views, the U.S. team ‘Motiv’ with 2.65 million, Australia’s ‘AgeSquad’ with 2.59 million, and Japan’s ‘RHTokyo’ with 2.37 million, depicting a tight race.

The results of the global fan vote and the rankings will be revealed in the forthcoming fifth episode airing on October 23rd.

A Surprise Appearance by BLACKPINK’s Jennie

Adding to the excitement, global K-pop star Jennie from BLACKPINK made a surprise appearance on WOSWF3, tasked with delivering the mission brief to create performance videos that encapsulate each country’s unique culture.

The narrative of ‘BeomJeop’ in World of Street Woman Fighter 3 not only highlights their impressive comeback but also demonstrates the show’s growing impact on a global scale.
