Korean Comedian Park Na-rae Responds Gracefully to BoA’s Drunken Livestream Controversy
South Korean entertainer Park Na-rae has broken her silence following a recent drunken livestream controversy involving K-pop singer BoA and broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo. In a candid video uploaded on June 7 to her YouTube channel ‘Narae-sik’, Park shed light on her perspective regarding the incident that drew massive public attention.
“Only those who’ve had drinks can understand each other,” Park began, referencing the now-viral livestream that featured BoA and Jeon. “I completely understand how it happened,” she said, showing empathy for both involved parties.
Park elaborated that Jeon Hyun-moo had already “apologized many times.” Though she hadn’t personally met BoA, Park stated the singer reached out multiple times. “She even wanted to enter my makeup room to apologize,” Park noted. “I told her it’s okay. I actually found it really entertaining and cheerful. I even asked her to invite me next time they drink together.”
BoA went a step further, according to Park, by contacting her before departing on an overseas schedule and again after her arrival. “This is something we can all laugh about,” Park emphasized, making it clear that she wasn’t bothered by the incident.
The controversy erupted when BoA and Jeon Hyun-moo went live on social media after drinking. The livestream took a turn when a viewer asked about a dating rumor between Park Na-rae and Jeon. BoA jokingly replied, “Jeon Hyun-moo is too good for her,” sparking backlash. Both BoA and Jeon issued public apologies shortly thereafter via their social media platforms and fan communities.
Despite public scrutiny, Park Na-rae’s reaction reflects maturity, humor, and self-awareness, qualities that continue to keep her in fans’ good graces.
