Korean Actress Oh Min-ae Warns Fans About Fake Social Media Accounts

Oh Min-ae and Bum Entertainment issue alert on growing impersonation attempts via social media

South Korean actress Oh Min-ae and her agency Bum Entertainment have issued a warning to fans regarding fake social media accounts impersonating the actress. On May 28, Oh Min-ae shared a post on her personal social media accounts alerting fans about the growing number of impersonation cases.

The agency stated, “Recently, there have been increasing reports of social media accounts impersonating actress Oh Min-ae and sending direct messages to individuals. We want to clarify that Oh Min-ae never contacts anyone personally via Facebook, Instagram, or other platforms, and she never makes any financial requests.”

Bum Entertainment further emphasized the only official account fans should follow and warned that all others are fakes. “Please be cautious and do not engage with or respond to these impersonators,” the agency urged. They also expressed gratitude to fans for their vigilance and support: “We sincerely thank everyone for your attention and swift reporting.”

Oh Min-ae responded with appreciation, commenting, “Thank you for the company’s quick response. You’re the best!” In a light-hearted exchange with a fan who remarked on the challenges of being a ‘Superstar,’ she humorously replied, “Being a superstar still feels a bit awkward. The word even sounds like a sigh sometimes.”

Earlier this year, Oh Min-ae appeared in the Netflix original series where she portrayed Kwon Gye-ok, the mother of Yang Gwang-sik, played by Park Bo-gum. Her performance in the series has been well-received and further solidified her status in the Korean entertainment industry.

As fraudulent activities targeting celebrities continue to rise, Oh Min-ae’s proactive approach stands as a reminder to fans to remain vigilant and to only trust verified sources.
