Ko Chang-seok Takes Over as Leader in Remote Island Cooking Show

Ko Chang seok replaces Jang Hyuk as leader in latest MBC variety episode featuring god and chef

In the May 5 episode of MBC’s variety show Adventure by Accident (original title: ‘푹 쉬면 다행이야’), veteran actor Ko Chang-seok dramatically takes over leadership from actor Jang Hyuk during a remote island restaurant challenge featuring the two along with Park Jun-hyung and Son Ho-young from K-pop group god, and celebrity chef Jung Ho-young.

The dramatic leadership change unfolds when Jang Hyuk unexpectedly steps down, stating, “I have a big announcement. I tried being the leader, but realized I wasn’t qualified.” Subsequently, Ko Chang-seok is voted in as the new leader and proudly declares, “I’ll show you what a true leader looks like.”

However, things take a dramatic twist. Not long after donning his metaphorical crown, Ko’s leadership style starts to raise eyebrows. His bold commands and one-sided orders make his teammates question whether they’ve swapped one challenge for another. His appetite also becomes a major point of contention, frustrating the other cast members who struggle to keep up.

In a surprising emotional turn, Ko Chang-seok is later seen in tears during the team’s restaurant operations, adding emotional depth and suspense to the episode. Viewers are left wondering what caused this moment and if the island restaurant can finish its run without further drama.

The 47th episode airs on May 5 at 9 p.m. KST on MBC.
