Kian84 experiences philosophical insights through Gurkha training in MBC's travel show

Exploring the Essence of Travel through Intense Training

Introduction

On the latest episode of MBC’s popular variety show, Around the World While Born 4, broadcast on the 1st, viewers witnessed Kian84 alongside Lee Si-eon, Dex, and PPANIBOTTLE taking on the challenging training at the world’s strongest mercenary brigade, the Gurkha Training Center.

The Challenge

The Task: The four participated in the ‘Doko training,’ carrying 15kg backpacks and running through the Gurkha training course at an altitude of 2,000 meters.

The Course: Confronted with the Annapurna Himalayas, they had to reach the statue of Shiva located at the mountain’s summit. The course consisted of three stages:

Course 1: Gentle uphill.

Course 2: A challenging section with repeated ascents and descents.

Course 3: A steep, challenging uphill stretch.

Kian84’s Reflection

Kian84, reflecting on the training, recalled his encounters with Sherpas Tamang and Rai in Nepal. As he quietly ascended the mountain path, his emotions deepened. He shared, “I had many thoughts. We are on an overseas travel show, right? On the fifth day of an overseas trip, to be carrying luggage for three days…” He humorously expressed his confusion about the situation.

In the studio, Lee Seung-hoon humorously remarked, “Isn’t that like a donkey?” Yet, despite his bowed head, Kian84 shared his heartfelt travel philosophy, pondering on what true travel means with unfamiliar experiences, suggesting, “This might be the greatest journey—to a place we know nothing of, experiencing unknown military training in an unknown neighborhood. In that sense, this is the real journey.”

Conclusion

Kian84’s philosophical musings offered a profound perspective on travel, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
