KATSEYE to Drop New Single ‘Gnarly’ Following Breakout Billboard Success
KATSEYE—the global girl group formed through HYBE Corporation and Geffen Records’ survival show Dream Academy—is set to release their highly anticipated new single ‘Gnarly’ on April 30 at 12 AM ET. This marks their first comeback in eight months following their debut EP ‘SIS (Soft Is Strong)’.
On April 23, the group took to their official SNS channels to unveil a logo motion teaser for ‘Gnarly’. The quirky video features a bottle emblazoned with the group’s name bursting out of a refrigerator. Green liquid flows through the air before forming the word ‘Gnarly’ in a mystic transformation, set against a dreamy, atmospheric soundscape. The teaser culminates with the phrase ‘APR 30 12AM ET‘, amplifying excitement among fans worldwide.
The six-member lineup—Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae—has been ramping up the intrigue with mysterious teaser videos shot in South Korea, the U.S., and France. Adding to the speculation, fans spotted the group attending Le Sserafim’s world tour stop in Seoul on April 20, hinting at their imminent return.
KATSEYE officially debuted in June 2024 after winning critical acclaim through Dream Academy. Their debut EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) earned a spot on the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 119 (Week of August 31, 2024), a notable achievement for a rookie K-pop act. Its lead single ‘Touch’ has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify, solidifying their global appeal.
Following this momentum, KATSEYE has been confirmed as part of the Lollapalooza Chicago 2024 lineup this summer, setting the stage for a major leap in their international career. With bold visuals, infectious sound, and multilingual storytelling, KATSEYE is quickly becoming a defining voice in global pop music.
