Kang Seung-yoon Returns to ‘King of Mask Singer’—But This Time as a Panelist

WINNER leader Kang Seung yoon makes a celebrated return to King of Mask Singer as panelist

K-pop sensation Kang Seung-yoon of WINNER is making headlines once again—this time not as a masked singer conquering the stage, but as a discerning panelist on MBC’s long-running variety show King of Mask Singer.

On June 11, Kang will appear on the show as a member of the celebrity judging panel, marking his return after military service. Previously, he took center stage under the alias The First 6-Time Idol Champion and earned historic six consecutive wins—one of the longest runs in the show’s history. Now, he’s back on the other side of the mask, adding his incredible vocal insight and sharp accuracy to the guessing game.

The set erupted in cheers during the recent taping when Kang appeared on the panel. Fellow judges were thrilled to have such an experienced maestro among them. According to production notes, Kang demonstrated keen intuition and disproved several guesses with his laser-sharp observations.

Kang will be joined by an all-star lineup including Luna from f(x), vocal powerhouse Son Tae-jin, Soran’s singer-songwriter Go Young-bae, emotional vocalist Kwon Soon-il of Urban Zakapa, comedian-turned-artist Wetboy, Kai (Kei) from LOVELYZ, and 129th King, Hyun (Pak Hye-won), among others. Together, this diverse panel promises to inject energy, wit, and suspense into the musical showdown.

Meanwhile, the reigning mystery monarch ‘Perfume Over Flowers’ is attempting to break King of Mask Singer history by achieving a record-breaking 10 consecutive wins—aiming to surpass legends like Ha Hyun-woo (‘Music General of Our Neighborhood’) and Touch member Yoon Min (‘Rock is Emotions Too’).

The episode also features a surprise appearance by Apink’s lead vocalist and multitalented entertainer Jeong Eun-ji, who sends in a heartfelt video message in support of a mystery contestant. Her unexpected virtual cameo sends shockwaves through the judges’ table, especially when she hints at a major clue to the singer’s identity.

Could this episode mark a first in the show’s 10-year history with a 10-win champion? You’ll have to tune in to MBC on June 11 at 6:05 PM KST to find out.
