K.Will Shines on ‘Radio Star’ with Wit, Humor, and Surprising Revelations
Korean ballad powerhouse K.Will recently made waves during his appearance on MBC’s variety show Radio Star, showcasing not only his vocal talent but also his irresistible comedic timing and candid stories. The episode, themed ‘Modern Gentlemen 101,’ aired on May 23 and left a lasting impression on audiences.
K.Will was introduced as a ‘Textbook Example of a Hardworking Musician,’ and he truly lived up to the title. Known for his multifaceted appeal – from singer to YouTuber – he captivated the audience with rapid-fire anecdotes, spontaneous reactions, and lively banter.
He humorously credited his return to Radio Star after a five-year hiatus to Kim Gura‘s sharp tongue. When Baek Ji-young had previously mentioned K.Will’s YouTube show Aneun Hyeongsu (The Sister-in-law I Know), it sparked a light-hearted roast session led by Kim Gura, which K.Will happily reciprocated during this broadcast, bringing up memorable incidents such as his debut on King of Mask Singer’s pilot episode.
In a revelation that delighted both fans and industry insiders, K.Will shared that he is not just Starship Entertainment’s very first signed artist, but also the only current artist to hold the director title. “I’m involved in producing and promoting our upcoming male idol group,” he noted with pride. He currently plays a mentor and judge role in Starship’s large-scale debut project, Debut’s Plan.
K.Will also took a moment to discuss the global impact of his hit song “Please Don’t…” and its viral music video, which earned the nickname ‘World Gay MV’ for its twist ending. “At the time, reaction videos were rare. So in many ways, I think it influenced the K-pop reaction culture globally,” he said.
He was similarly proud of the 2023 follow-up video for ‘There’s No Breakup Song That Fits Me (Prod. Yoon Sang),’ which reached #1 on Korea’s YouTube trending list and climbed to #7 in the U.S.
The show also delved into his popular YouTube series Aneun Hyeongsu. K.Will humorously explained that while asking fellow male celebrities about married life was fruitless, their wives could offer more honest insights. “I’m surprised by how many sister-in-laws I’ve been able to cast,” said K.Will, jokingly extending an invitation to Kangnam’s wife, Lee Sang-hwa. When challenged that she wasn’t technically his ‘sister-in-law,’ K.Will wittingly responded, “If they’re married, he’s my brother.”
When talks turned to styling, K.Will, often teased for being ‘the most handsome among the not-so-handsome,’ showcased a charming everyday look. He even carried a bag, prompting other guests to joke that he looked like a boyfriend waiting for his girlfriend outside the restroom. K.Will showed impressive ad-libbing skills, joining Jang Do-yeon in an impromptu skit.
In a refreshing moment of humility, he addressed his fanbase, lovingly dubbed “the Prince on the White Horse.” “I tell fans to enjoy that fantasy only at concerts,” he said. “Fan culture is valuable, but should never push others to conform.”
With a unique blend of honesty, wit, and artistic insight, K.Will reminded everyone why he’s not just a top-tier vocalist but a beloved entertainer across platforms. Be sure to catch more of him every Wednesday at 5:30 PM KST on his YouTube show ‘Hyeongsu is K.Will.’
