K-Pop Stars Steal the Spotlight at 2025 Met Gala with Tailored Elegance
The 2025 Met Gala, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, once again captured the world’s attention with its dazzling array of celebrities and show-stopping fashion. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, with a dress code titled “Tailored for You,” placed an emphasis on personalized, expressive tailoring — and Korean stars certainly delivered.
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé dominated the red carpet in looks inspired by the heyday of haute couture and modern artistry. Jennie, in particular, turned heads with a custom tuxedo dress inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s 1987 F/W collection and the 1920–30s style of Coco Chanel. Her pearl-adorned black leather satin jumpsuit was layered with a voluminous overskirt, topped off with a white camellia and two-tone silk hat that perfectly complemented her elegant silhouette.
Lisa made a bold Met Gala debut in a pantsless-look custom designed by Louis Vuitton. The sharply tailored sheer jacket paired with a portrait-patterned bodysuit, featuring artwork by Henry Taylor, was a graceful blend of sensuality and culture-forward sophistication.
Rosé returned to the Met Gala four years after her debut in 2021, stunning again in a minimalist yet empowering Saint Laurent suit. The absence of an inner layer and the addition of a floor-length cape echoed the statement style of legendary fashion journalist André Leon Talley. A deep V-neckline and a sapphire necklace added a touch of refined femininity to balance the powerful look.
The standout male attendee from Korea was S.Coups of SEVENTEEN, who redefined male tailoring with a subtle nod to traditional Korean hanbok. His custom look from BOSS featured a grey-toned wrap-style jacket and gown coat inspired by the jeogori, blending heritage with modern luxury. Devoid of flashy accessories, his look emphasized sophistication and minimalism, embodying the theme with Korean flair.
While viewers might have expected a subdued night dominated by monochrome suits, Korean stars like Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and S.Coups surprised audiences with nuanced tailoring, cultural references, and boundary-pushing fashion — making them the undisputed fashion icons of the 2025 Met Gala.
