K-Pop Stars Shownu and Jooheon Team Up with Chef Lee Yeon-bok for Gourmet Adventure in Türkiye

The latest episode of KBS 2TV’s popular food reality show New Launch of Fun Restaurant features a gourmet dream team like no other. Seasoned Chinese cuisine master Lee Yeon-bok joins forces with K-pop idols Shownu and Jooheon of Monsta X, forming the delightfully named squad Boksta X.

On the May 9 broadcast, the trio embarks on a culinary mission to Türkiye, invited by official channels to explore one of the world’s top three gastronomic destinations. Dressed in stylish suits, the trio turns heads as they walk through the historic streets of Türkiye, showcasing impeccable style and charisma.

Shownu and Jooheon wowed with their perfect proportions and sleek fashion, while Chef Lee matched them in elegance, adding swagger to his refined chef persona. “We acted like bodyguards for the chef,” joked Jooheon, adding laughter to the group’s dynamic.

Their destination? An 80-year-old, fourth-generation restaurant known for welcoming foreign dignitaries. Greeted personally by the restaurant owner, the team stepped inside to experience an atmosphere rich with Turkish tradition and culinary excellence.

Before dining, the three toured the restaurant’s aging refrigerators storing the finest meats and were given rare access to the kitchen where traditional Turkish dishes are crafted—a special courtesy for Chef Lee.

And then began the feast: a sensory overload of authentic Turkish delicacies that not only looked spectacular but also delighted their taste buds. Their reactions made for an unforgettable segment—Shownu’s fierce appetite reflected his “beast idol” image, while Jooheon’s signature “Kku Kku Kkaka” move charmed viewers as part of his cheeky eating performance.
