K-Pop Rookie MEOVV Scores First-Ever Music Show Win with ‘HANDS UP’
Rising K-pop girl group MEOVV has officially claimed their first music show victory since debut. On May 8, MEOVV’s pre-release single ‘HANDS UP’ took the top spot on Mnet’s weekly chart show M COUNTDOWN, securing the group’s inaugural No.1 trophy.
The track ‘HANDS UP’ is an electrifying blend of Brazilian funk, fast-paced rhythms, and distinctive synth sounds. Since its release on April 28, the song has captivated global fans with its infectious melody and high-energy choreography. It quickly climbed to No.1 on YouTube’s trending videos and performed strongly on various Korean music charts.
Following the win, the members shared heartfelt messages through a video. Member Narin expressed her joy by saying, “It’s our first win since debut—I’m incredibly happy and grateful.” Member Suin added, “We worked hard and had fun preparing for this comeback. I’m thrilled that so many people are listening.” Anna further commented, “We promise to keep challenging ourselves with new music and show different sides of MEOVV.”
The track’s success didn’t stop at the performance stage. ‘HANDS UP’ has been steadily climbing major Korean streaming platforms such as Melon, making its way onto the daily chart as well as the TOP 100. This momentum is setting the stage for a strong debut EP release.
On May 12, MEOVV is scheduled to drop their highly awaited debut EP titled ‘MY EYES OPEN VVVIDE’, featuring the lead track ‘DROP TOP’. With their clear trajectory toward K-pop stardom, MEOVV is one rookie group to watch in 2024.
