K-Pop Queens Reunite: Baby V.O.X Dishes Out Untold Stories and 2025 Comeback Plans
One of K-pop’s original girl groups, Baby V.O.X, has captured global fans’ hearts once again with their recent reunion appearance on Self-Appearance, part of K-pop media giant 1theK’s original content lineup. On June 23, all five members—Lee Hee-jin, Kan Mi-youn, Kim E-Z, Yoon Eun-hye, and Shim Eun-jin—shared laughs, memories, and behind-the-scenes stories during their candid episode.
From playful banter about outdated profile info to secrets from their prime that had previously gone unspoken, the episode was filled with nostalgia and personality. Kim E-Z corrected a listed height of 171cm, stating, “I’m actually 173cm, but back in the day I lowered it a bit. Being too tall felt awkward then.” Her humorous refusal to comment on weight due to post-pregnancy changes also drew laughter.
Fellow member Yoon Eun-hye quipped back about her own blank weight entry: “Smart move,” sending the set into roars of laughter.
One highlight of their discussion came when they recalled their emotional reunion performance at the 2024 KBS Song Festival Global Festival. For the first time in 14 years, Baby V.O.X reunited on stage with the same energy, beauty, and vocal charm fans remember. Lee Hee-jin shared her fondest memory was performing “Doll” during her short bob era: “I think I had the most fans during that time—especially female fans.”
Kan Mi-youn, who was named the most popular Korean actress in China in a 2001 entertainment magazine, beat out even Kim Hee-sun. She bashfully noted, “People used to say I look prettier on screen than in person, which was rare.”
She also addressed the group’s dynamic by clarifying, “We didn’t really have a designated main vocalist. Whoever had to sing the high notes was the main vocal for that verse.”
Yoon Eun-hye, who transitioned into acting post-Baby V.O.X days with iconic roles in Palace and Coffee Prince, humorously reflected on her early acting: “When I watch those now, I think I only did two types of acting,” she laughed. Still, she praised the character Shin Chae-kyung from Palace as universally lovable, regardless of who would play her.
The segment wrapped with the group revealing a fresh 2025 re-recording of five of their biggest hits: Yaya, Wish, Doll, Game Over, and Get Up. “We tried to retain that early-2000s feel while incorporating our matured voices and emotions,” said the members, encouraging fans to look forward to their revival of nostalgia-infused anthems.
Producer Kwon Seok-jung of Self-Appearance shared, “The members truly enjoyed themselves, and the stories flowed effortlessly. Their longstanding affection for fans was evident throughout the shoot.”
