K-Pop Icon Sung Yu-ri Returns: Fin.K.L Star Makes Surprise Comeback on GS SHOP
K-pop legend and former Fin.K.L member Sung Yu-ri is officially making her return to the public eye, surprising fans with her reappearance through a home shopping broadcast on GS SHOP.
The speculation began last week when the GS SHOP Story Instagram account posted a teaser video captioned, “A legendary Korean celebrity has appeared. Could this silhouette be her?” The mysterious female figure in the clip was soon revealed to be none other than Sung Yu-ri, confirming a long-anticipated return.
Sung Yu-ri had temporarily stepped away from public life following a legal scandal involving her husband, professional golfer Ahn Sung-hyun. Ahn was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in December 2023 for bribery and violating the Specific Economic Crimes Act. He was found guilty of colluding with employees at Bithumb, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, to falsely promise token listings in exchange for large sums of money. Luxury watches and other illicit gains were also confiscated.
The case further deepened as Ahn was accused of siphoning 2 billion KRW (approximately $1.5 million USD) in connection with Kang Jong-hyun, the suspected real owner of Bithumb.
Sung Yu-ri, who married Ahn in 2017 and is now raising twin daughters, had earlier expressed the emotional toll the situation had on her family. “I sincerely pray that the truth about the unjust and painful experiences our family is facing comes to light,” she shared in a heartfelt post last year.
Sung’s comeback is making waves, but it’s not her first foray into the home shopping world. Back in November 2020, she appeared on a Hyundai Home Shopping broadcast to promote a product she co-developed, selling out the entire stock.
Now, with her latest appearance on GS SHOP, Sung Yu-ri is reclaiming her spotlight, not just as a beloved K-pop icon but as a resilient figure navigating the tides of public life with grace.
