K-pop Group TWS to Perform Opening Theme for Upcoming Japanese Anime
Rising K-pop boy group TWS (Shin Yu, Do Hoon, Young Jae, Han Jin, Ji Hoon, and Kyung Min) has been selected to sing the opening theme song for the upcoming Japanese TV anime "A Bouquet for the Ugly", set to premiere this July.
According to their agency, Pledis Entertainment, the track titled ‘BLOOM (feat. Ayumu Imazu)’ is a pop-R&B song inspired by the symbolism of flowers. The sentimental lyrics celebrate individuality, encouraging listeners to embrace their unique colors and bloom into their true selves.
TWS‘s youthful and emotive vocals are expected to enhance the overall immersion of the anime, effectively conveying the heartwarming message of the song.
The group joined forces with renowned Japanese artist Ayumu Imazu, who not only wrote and composed the song but also features on the track. The collaboration marks their first musical partnership following a previous dance challenge appearance together.
“We are excited to have worked with Ayumu Imazu for the first time through music. We hope many people will enjoy and love the song,” TWS expressed through Pledis Entertainment.
‘A Bouquet for the Ugly’ is based on a popular manga series that ranked 5th in the 2019 Next-Generation Manga Awards in Japan. The story is a school romance comedy revolving around the transformation of a shy, insecure high schooler after an unexpected connection with the most popular boy in school.
This anime theme project is part of TWS‘s Japanese debut strategy. The group will also release their first Japanese single ‘Nice to see you again’ (original title: はじめまして) on July 2, followed by their first Japan tour, ‘2025 TWS TOUR ’24/7:WITH:US’ IN JAPAN’.
TWS has been expanding their presence in Japan with great success. Their 3rd mini album ‘TRY WITH US’ surpassed 100,000 shipments in Japan and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
With music, performance, and now anime collaborations, TWS is continuing to leave an indelible impression on Japanese fans.
