K-Drama ’24-hour Fitness Club’ Turns Up the Heat with Hilarious Boot Camp-Like Training
Korean drama fans are getting a wild ride with KBS2‘s latest comedy-romance series 24-hour Fitness Club, where high-intensity workouts meet laugh-out-loud absurdity. Viewers were treated to a hilarious transformation session on the latest episode featuring Lee Jun-young as Do Hyun-jung, a former world-class bodybuilder who now runs a rundown neighborhood gym with military-style discipline.
This week’s episode marked the beginning of Jung Eun-ji’s character, Mi-ran, entering Hyun-jung’s famously brutal training regime. With a straight face and an evil grin, Hyun-jung declared, “No one will underestimate you after this,” before putting Mi-ran through a comically unforgiving fitness boot camp that included assessments like, “You rank at the bottom in every category: flexibility, strength, endurance… almost like a zombie.”
The madness didn’t stop at the gym doors. Hyun-jung took Mi-ran on a high-speed run beneath city night lights, only to mockingly comment on a dress she aspired to fit into: “Didn’t realize you wanted to wear children’s clothes.” Moments like these capture the show’s delightful mix of roasting humor and genuine chemistry.
In a heartfelt (yet muscle-obsessed) twist, Hyun-jung accompanied Mi-ran to her co-worker’s wedding to help shield her from an awkward encounter with her ex-boyfriend. When mistaken for her new partner, Hyun-jung flexed instead of flirting, proudly stating, “My biceps are insane today,” diverting all attention to his perfected physique.
24-hour Fitness Club offers a refreshing blend of sharp comedy, light romance and inspiring fitness journey. Written by Kim Ji-soo, directed by Park Jun-su and Choi Yeon-soo, the drama airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:50 PM KST on KBS2.
