Jo Han Gyeol Leaves Lasting Impression with Dramatic Exit in SBS ‘The Atypical Family’

Jo Han Gyeol, starring in the SBS weekend drama The Atypical Family, delivered a memorable performance with his character Lee Mu-gi’s emotional and tragic departure in recent episodes. His portrayal of Lee Mu-gi, a complex character torn between bonds and peril, has resonated deeply with viewers and left a powerful impression that continues to linger.

As the plot unfolded, Lee Mu-gi (played by Jo Han Gyeol) became increasingly anxious witnessing Kang Cheol (Yook Sung-jae)’s growing emotions toward Yeori (Kim Ji-yeon). Driven by concern for Kang Cheol’s safety, Lee Mu-gi engaged in a heated confrontation—his very first aggressive exchange with Kang Cheol—fearing the danger these feelings could bring.

Convinced by Pung-san’s (Kim Sang-ho) suggestion that Yeori’s presence was a threat, Lee Mu-gi agreed to help remove her, not realizing it was a ploy to seize the ‘Yagwangju’ item. When Kang Cheol fell into a trap, Lee Mu-gi heroically intervened to save him, losing his own life at the hands of Palcheokgui, who took the Yagwangju.

From his playful personality and adorable jealousy to intense conflict and, ultimately, loyal sacrifice for his brother, Jo Han Gyeol expertly captured every emotional nuance of Lee Mu-gi’s journey.
