How Park Jinyoung Prepared for His Role in ‘High Five’

In anticipation of the release of the new action-comedy film High Five on May 30, actor Park Jinyoung opened up about the rigorous fitness regimen he followed to embody his super-powered character. The movie tells the story of five strangers who gain unique abilities after organ transplants, coming together to face those who covet their powers.

At a press conference held in Seoul, Park recounted, “The script described my character as ‘beast-like.’ So I didn’t just aim to look good—I wanted my body to reflect the reality of a man with superhuman strength.” This commitment to authenticity led him to adopt a strict diet, manipulating his nutrition to ensure his muscles appeared more defined on screen.

A Role Demanding More Than Just Muscles

Park not only transformed his body for the film; he also took on a challenging dual role, portraying both his main character and an elderly man. He credited veteran actor Shin Goo, who helped him fine-tune his elderly character’s speech patterns, by recording all of Park’s lines for him to study and rehearse.

Directed by Kang Hyoungchul, known for blockbusters like Scandal Makers and Sunny, High Five boasts an ensemble cast including Lee Jaein, Ahn Jaehong, Ra Miran, Oh Jungse, Park Jinyoung, and Yoo Ah-in. With its action-packed plot and comedic edge, the film is set to capture audiences this summer.
