Jang Keun Suk Returns with Emotional 2025 Curtain Call Live in Japan
Renowned South Korean actor and singer Jang Keun Suk made a triumphant return to the Japanese stage with his long-awaited solo concert, 2025 JANG KEUN SUK SPECIAL LIVE. Held on April 22 and 23 at the Makuhari Event Hall, the concert marked his first solo live performance in over a year. The show served as a retrospective, revisiting his journey from debut to his most recent works, offering fans a deeply emotional and personal experience.
Jang opened the show with a powerful band intro, launching into his Japanese debut track “Let me cry.” He followed it up with fan favorites like “Bye Bye Bye,” “Turn Off,” “Day by day,” and “Chamomile,” showcasing his vocal prowess in a breathtaking live set. As he performed each song, he shared nostalgic stories and moments from his career, touching the hearts of long-time fans.
The event was particularly moving as it marked his return to the Japanese stage after nearly five years, due to mandatory military service and the COVID-19 pandemic. Standing before a sea of cheering fans, Jang emotionally stated, “When you say ‘Okaeri’ (welcome home) to me like this in a live setting, it truly feels like I’ve come back home.”
The encore brought with it a special surprise — the live debut of his new single Curtain Call, which was released earlier this month. The reflective ballad, which explores the solitude and warmth one feels after the curtain falls, resonated deeply with the audience as Jang used the moment to express gratitude and reconnect with his fans.
Known for his fluency in Japanese, Jang was more heartfelt than ever, carefully choosing his words to speak candidly to the crowd. His sincerity moved many to tears. On the final night, he gifted the audience with a double encore — a cover of Anzenchitai’s emotional classic “I Love You” — which he had recently watched live and wished to perform for his fans.
This concert symbolized the end of Act One in Jang Keun Suk’s musical journey, and now fans are eagerly anticipating what Act Two will hold. Looking ahead, Jang will reunite with fans as part of the music unit TEAM H, with scheduled concerts in Tokyo on June 18–19 and Osaka on July 22–23.
