On the latest episode of SBS’s popular variety show My Little Old Boy, aired on the 27th, Korean actor Jang Keun-suk appeared as a special MC, capturing the audience with his enduring charm.

Revealing His Battle with Thyroid Cancer

Maintaining his fresh and youthful appearance reminiscent of his boyhood days, Jang answered questions from Seo Jang-hoon with refreshing honesty. When asked about the secret to his looks, he modestly shared, “I only get occasional laser treatments, not much else.” He then candidly revealed he had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year, underwent surgery, and has since recovered.

“When I first received the diagnosis, I felt deeply resentful,” he confessed. “I had always worked hard since childhood, and it felt incredibly unfair to face such a hardship.” Overcoming his illness, Jang emphasized, “Now I try to treat myself with greater care, avoiding things that are bad for my body.” Interestingly, he also shared that he successfully quit smoking in one attempt by maintaining a consistent daily routine.

Dreaming of Marriage and a Special Wedding

Jang also touched on his future goals, recalling his dream of becoming a father before 40. “According to fortune-tellers, I will get married around 41 or 42,” he joked, “It’s better to marry a bit later to protect my assets!”

Flirting playfully with the “mothers” on set, Jang showed his witty side by making a pun involving Seol Woon-do’s song “Love’s Twist.”

Seeing fellow actors like Yun Hyun-min earnestly taking care of their mothers, Jang expressed admiration, noting how inspiring it was. His humorous remark about hoping to appear on a marriage-themed show instead of My Little Old Boy caused laughter, especially when bantered back by Shin Dong-yub.
