IU Captivates Fans with Natural Spring Charm and Netflix Hit Success

IU shares beautiful spring photos as Netflix drama ranks top globally in nonenglish series

K-pop superstar IU is warming hearts this spring with her effortlessly fresh visuals and increasing global influence. On May 30, she shared a series of stunning photos on her social media, captioned, “May, come softly.”

IU was styled in a breezy sky-blue silk sleeveless blouse paired with a flowy skirt, embodying the light and romantic essence of the season. Complemented by minimal makeup and soft, natural waves, IU radiated her signature innocent charm. Her gentle smile while leaning on a bicycle added a poetic touch to the photo set, perfectly capturing the sentimental mood of a spring day.

Close-up selfies further showcased IU’s flawless skin and defined features, reaffirming her place among Korea’s most beloved beauty icons. Fans couldn’t contain their admiration, with comments pouring in such as, “She’s absolutely beautiful,” “Prettiest in the universe,” and “Hard to tell who’s the flower here!”

This aesthetic allure comes alongside her acting success in the recent Netflix series, ‘폭싹 속았수다’ (translated as an unspecific rustic title in Korean dialect), where IU played the dual roles of Ae-soon and Yang Geum-myung. Starring alongside Park Bo-gum, the series tells the compelling seasonal life story set in Jeju Island, focusing on a spirited rebel girl and a devoted young man navigating their destinies.

The drama debuted to high acclaim, quickly rising to the No.1 spot on Netflix’s ‘Today’s Top 10 South Korea’ list upon release, and continued dominating the charts through its complete four-act release. It even topped the ‘Global Top 10’ (Non-English Series) category in its third week, proving its international appeal and IU’s global acting draw.

By its conclusion, the series saw 6 million viewing units across 39 countries, including Bolivia, Chile, Morocco, the Philippines, and Malaysia — securing third place globally in the Non-English category on Netflix’s ranking system.

Looking ahead, IU is set to return to television in the anticipated MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) historical romance series, ’21세기 대군부인’. Set in a fictional constitutional monarchy version of modern Korea, the drama explores identity and class through the love story of Seong Hee-joo, a wealthy yet commoner woman played by IU, and Prince Yi-wan, portrayed by Byun Woo-seok. Audiences expect sparks to fly on screen as this unconventional tale of love and societal barriers unfolds.
