Inside Netflix’s ‘Devil’s Plan 2’: Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Go Champion Lee Sedol, and More Reveal Unexpected Sides
The mind-bending psychological reality competition returns. Netflix’s ‘Devil’s Plan’ has unveiled its electrifying second season, officially titled ‘Devil’s Plan: Death Room’. The launch press conference held at Hotel Naru Seoul showcased a diverse and intriguing set of participants, including legendary Go player Lee Sedol, Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun, former JTBC announcer Kang Ji-young, and KAIST and Seoul National University alumni who brought brains as well as boldness.
Lee Sedol, remembered worldwide for his iconic battle against AlphaGo in 2016, shared his thoughts on trading Go for psychological warfare. “This was the first time I felt competitive outside of Go,” he said. Surprisingly, he found Devil’s Plan 2 to be more challenging than any board he’s faced. “This show was definitely harder.”
Kyuhyun, marking his 20th year in the entertainment industry, revealed a radically different side of himself. “I’m honestly scared to watch myself on air,” he confessed. “I took off the mask I’d worn as a celebrity. My anger, my values—they came out raw.”
Kang Ji-young, often known for her composure as an anchor, exposed her competitive side. “When I watched season 1, I thought, ‘This is daunting, but maybe I could do this,’” she said. Her approach? “Even if I lose, I’ll fall gloriously.” Producer Jeong Jong-yeon noted that Kang’s unpredictable moments were among the show’s highlights.
