How K-Band Daybreak Maintains Their Youth After 19 Years in the Spotlight
On the recent episode of the Korean Broadcasting System’s music talk show ‘The Seasons: Park Bo-gum’s Cantabile’, beloved Korean band Daybreak made a guest appearance under the theme “No Break, Keep Going.” The band, now in their 19th year since debut, captivated viewers with their youthful energy and surprising revelations.
Host and actor Park Bo-gum couldn’t hide his admiration, saying, “Despite being a 19-year-old band, your visuals make it seem like time has stopped.” Member Kim Sun-il surprised viewers by revealing, “When we started the band, we were in our early 30s. Now, our average age is 49.”
Further impressed, Park remarked, “You don’t look it at all!” to which Lee Won-seok humbly responded, “We’re still somewhat usable.” Bo-gum asked directly about their secret to maintaining such a fresh look and stellar performances. Laughing, Lee said, “It’s a bit embarrassing to say this in front of someone like Bo-gum…”
Bo-gum jokingly offered to follow their wellness routine, but Lee retorted, “You’re already way ahead of us. I can’t even look at you—your eyes have LED lights.”
Pressed further, Lee elaborated, “When I meet friends my age, it’s hard to be around them—they’ve aged so much. I think the main difference is that I drink less alcohol. My friends drink quite a bit more.”
Another hilarious moment came from Jeong Yoo-jong, who began to say, “Recently, I started eating…” then awkwardly corrected himself, “collagen,” making everyone erupt in laughter.
The segment took a humorous turn when Park nicknamed each band member after top Korean actors and models from different regions, saying, “You’re called things like ‘Gangdong-gu Kang Dong-won,’ ‘Okcheon Cha Eun-woo,’ ‘Uijeongbu Hyun Bin,’ and ‘Mapo Byun Woo-seok.’” To which Lee quipped, “Is this our last show?” making the studio laugh once more.
With almost two decades in the industry, Daybreak continues to charm fans with their music and sincere personalities, proving that age is just a number when passion and joy are in the driver’s seat.
