‘Holy Night: Demon Hunters’ Dominates Korean Box Office on Debut Day

Don Lee leads Holy Night Demon Hunters into Korean cinemas with a powerful debut and top ranking

Holy Night: Demon Hunters, an explosive occult action film starring Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok), Seohyun, and Lee David, has kicked off with an impressive debut—soaring to the No.1 position in the Korean box office on its opening day.

Set in a city consumed by chaos at the hands of a sinister cult, the film follows a powerful trio—Ba-woo (Don Lee), Sharon (Seohyun), and Kim Gun (Lee David)—who form the elite demon-hunting crew known as ‘Holy Night.’ Together, they purge evil in a thrilling mix of supernatural suspense and brutal combat.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticket sales network, the occult thriller recorded 117,042 admissions on its opening day, accumulating a total of 121,321 viewers. This milestone marks the highest first-day performance among new releases this year, outperforming Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (100,621), 승부 (91,471), and 야당 (85,659).

Don Lee continues his reign as Korea’s spring box office king, following a streak of May releases: The Outlaws 2 in 2022, The Roundup: No Way Out in 2023, and The Roundup: Punishment in 2024. Now, with Holy Night: Demon Hunters, he returns in spring 2025 to captivate audiences with yet another high-octane success.

Moviegoers are raving online after opening day screenings, leaving comments like “First time I ever felt bad for the demon getting beat up,” “If Don Lee’s in it, it’s guaranteed fun,” and “Pure dopamine with occult, action, and comedy vibes all in one.”

With seats selling fast and word-of-mouth fueling its momentum, Holy Night: Demon Hunters is now playing in theaters nationwide across South Korea—poised to become one of the year’s breakout smashes.
