Hangout with Yoo Explores Village Wisdom and Laughter in the Mountain Town of Hongcheon

On the latest episode of the popular MBC variety show Hangout with Yoo, which aired on June 3rd, Yoo Jae-seok and HaHa returned to the tranquil mountain village of Hongcheon in the ‘Delivery with Hangout – Hongcheon’ special. Keeping a promise they made half a year ago, the duo, joined by intern Lim Woo-il, resumed their mission to deliver packages and spread joy in the countryside.

Their first stop was the home of Seo-ha, a young girl who became famous for shedding tears over her unfulfilled craving for tteokbokki during the team’s previous visit. Despite Lim Woo-il’s attempt to bond, Seo-ha and her sister Seo-hee playfully acted like they didn’t remember him, resulting in a humorous, awkward moment.

HaHa jokingly dubbed the girls “Hongcheon’s Karina and Winter,” prompting a cheeky retort from Seo-hee that left everyone laughing. The group soon met the unforgettable Yeom Hee-han, nicknamed the ‘Smile Evangelist of Hongcheon,’ who maintained her charismatic and comedic flair since her initial appearance.

She proudly revealed that she had since appeared in promotional videos for the village and introduced her compliant husband, whom Yoo Jae-seok and HaHa humorously dubbed the ‘Hongcheon Yang Kwan-sik,’ a nod to his quiet deference to his wife. When Yoo offered food, the husband declined, but when Yeom told him to eat, he complied immediately, reinforcing the running joke.

HaHa, curious about his secret to avoiding conflict at home, received the golden advice: “Just don’t talk.” Much laughter ensued, especially when Yeom boasted her husband was undefeated in arm wrestling, leading to a mock match against Yoo, HaHa, and Woo-il, who all pretended to go easy on him.

The trio ended their journey at the home of Sohyun and her newborn, dubbed the ‘Hongcheon Star Baby.’ After presenting toy gifts and helping with local herb harvesting, Yoo Jae-seok emotionally shared his dream of one day becoming ‘a beloved father,’ while joking that he placed more hope in one child over another.

The nostalgic visit concluded with the team enjoying a hearty meal of spring herb bibimbap and myeongyi kimchi, highlighting the simple joys of life in the countryside.
