Han Ji-min Struggles With Buried Memories in JTBC Fantasy Drama

Han Ji-min delivers a powerful performance in JTBCs fantasy drama as she battles lost memories

In the latest episode of JTBC‘s fantasy weekend drama ‘천국보다 아름다운’ (no official English title), actress Han Ji-min delivers an emotionally gripping performance as her character, Somi, continues her journey to reclaim lost memories.

The episode aired on June 10 and focused on Somi’s increasing emotional turmoil as fragments of her forgotten past start to surface. Somi, guided by Nak-jun (played by Son Seok-gu), enters the realm of the living once again. She becomes distraught when a blurred memory of a sunset-lit beach flashes in her mind.

While Nak-jun is working, Somi notices a man in a Hawaiian shirt, and his silhouette seems to trigger a wave of unease. She also recalls moments of innocence, like making flower rings with clover, but fails to grasp them physically—only adding to her frustration and confusion. When she asked Nak-jun why she couldn’t touch them, he explained that special permissions granted by a watch allowed him to interact with earthly objects.

Later, Somi goes to the place where she remembers pleading with a man, holding on to his pants and saying, “Please.” Her anxiety peaks as she tells Nak-jun, “I think I did something very wrong. I begged him on my knees… maybe I’m a terrible person.”

Back in their celestial space, Somi confesses her fear: “I’m scared. What if there’s something unforgivable waiting at the end of these memories? What if I’m someone who deserves to be in hell?” When Nak-jun offers to stop the memory retrieval process, she refuses, saying, “No. I have to go. Where I am now is already enough of a hell.”

The episode reaches an intense climax as Somi returns to the earthly plane the next day and encounters the same man. In a disturbing scene, she aggressively grabs the man’s neck—mirroring a resurfaced memory where he spat at her after pushing her away. Nak-jun, perplexed, notices that Somi’s reflection does not appear in a mirror, raising mysterious new questions.

As JTBC‘s imaginative narrative deepens, Han Ji-min’s nuanced portrayal of inner conflict continues to captivate viewers with the psychological weight of uncovering one’s hidden truths.
