Go Youn-jung Moves Viewers with Emotional Confession in tvN’s Weekend Drama ‘A Life of Grown-up Residents’

On June 26, tvN’s weekend drama ‘A Life of Grown-up Residents’ saw Go Youn-jung move audiences to tears with O Yi-young’s emotional confession. In Episode 5, O Yi-young reveals a heartbreaking secret to a young guardian preparing for a sorrowful farewell, touching viewers deeply.

The episode achieved its highest ratings yet, recording a 6.1% average and 7.2% peak in the Seoul metropolitan area, clinching the number one spot across all channels during its time slot. Among the key 2049 demographic, the drama scored a 2.7% average and a peak of 3.4% in Seoul, once again dominating across all networks including terrestrial channels, according to Nielsen Korea.

O Yi-young becomes the primary physician for two mothers, each with a ten-year-old daughter. While one mother successfully undergoes surgery, the other mother’s health rapidly declines. Although the young daughter remained composed, Professor Jo Joon-mo’s (Lee Hyun-gyun) grim prognosis is hard for her to accept. O Yi-young, relating to the child with her own painful past, offers heartfelt comfort and shares her own story of losing her mother.

The emotional imagery of O Yi-young grieving alone, reminiscing about her mother’s voice, left viewers teary-eyed. The warm presence of ‘guardian angel’ Ahn Jung-won (portrayed by Yoo Yeon-seok) acted as a shield for the child forced to grow up too soon.

Meanwhile, first-year resident Eom Jae-il (Kang Yoo-seok) faces growing pains as he struggles with self-confidence during ultrasound exams. His constant need for validation burdened senior residents Gi Eun-mi (Lee Do-hye) and Cha Da-hye (Hong Na-hyun), prompting a stern but helpful wake-up call from Gu Do-won (Jung Jun-won).

Amidst the professional turmoil, sparks fly between O Yi-young and Gu Do-won. In a bold move, O Yi-young requests Gu Do-won to say “yes” to anything she asks until they reach their building. Her final question—”Can I like you?”—leaves Gu Do-won stunned, though he reluctantly agrees, creating anticipation for the evolution of their relationship.

The heartaches and growth of these young residents continue to unfold in Episode 6, airing tonight at 9:20 PM on tvN’s ‘A Life of Grown-up Residents’.
