A Global Gathering of Drama Excellence

The 20th Seoul Drama Awards is set to take place, drawing entries from 276 drama productions representing 50 countries. This annual event further establishes its prominence as a major international awards ceremony. Participants include giants in the entertainment industry like Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, along with renowned broadcasters such as ZDF Studios GmbH, STUDIOCANAL, and TBS.

A Fierce Competition

The awards feature both international and K-drama categories. In the international competition section, some standout productions include “Slow Horses” (Apple TV+), “Severance” Season 2 (Apple TV+), “The Boy’s Hour” (Netflix), and Hirokazu Koreeda’s “Monster” (Netflix). Meanwhile, in the K-drama division, “Not Even for a Book” (Netflix), “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” (Netflix), and “The Exorcist Judge” (Studio S) showcase the diverse genres and quality of Korean dramas.

Star-studded Talent and Creative Excellence

Seoul Drama Awards celebrates excellence in global drama culture annually.

The competition is not limited to the dramas themselves but also includes individual awards where both domestic and international stars compete. Notable names such as IU, Park Bo-gum, Joo Ji-hoon, and Cate Blanchett are up for best actor awards, while directors like Hirokazu Koreeda and Alfonso Cuarón add further prestige to the event.

Expanding Global Reach

This year marks a significant milestone with Azerbaijan participating for the first time, notably with “Citizen A”, a drama lauded for its portrayal of women’s rights and civic consciousness.

A Celebratory Event

The ceremony, supported by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will broadcast live from KBS Hall on October 2. It will also be available via SBS TV and YouTube. From October 3-4, attendees can look forward to events at Banpo Han River Park and Songpa Naru Park, featuring drama talks, OST concerts, and immersive drama experiences.
