G-Dragon Kicks Off 2025 ‘Ubermensch’ World Tour with Sold-Out Tokyo Dome Performances
Global K-pop icon G-Dragon has officially launched his highly anticipated ‘G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]’ with two sold-out shows at the iconic Tokyo Dome on June 10 and 11. Drawing in over 80,000 fans across both nights, the concerts marked G-Dragon’s triumphant return to solo touring after an eight-year hiatus following his 2017 ‘Act III, M.O.T.T.E World Tour.’
The tour, named after Friedrich Nietzsche’s philosophical concept of the Übermensch, presents a three-stage narrative of transformation through elaborate storytelling, avant-garde visuals, and immersive stage design. Combining a live band sound with cutting-edge technology such as AI-powered visuals, the performance captivated attendees with a surreal, cinematic experience.
One of the night’s standout moments was G-Dragon’s performance of “Today (Feat. Kim Jong-wan of Nell)” from his 2012 ‘One of a Kind’ album. He stunned the audience by appearing onstage riding a dragon-shaped custom motorbike. Another crowd-pleaser came when he performed “1 Year Station” from his 2009 album while riding a massive car-shaped float named TORKKO, allowing him to reach fans in the farthest seats.
Special guest Wyng (Wing), a world-renowned beatbox champion, added electrifying energy with his set, which received a roar of applause from the audience, enhancing the show’s unique global flair.
G-Dragon also debuted his latest single “PO₩ER” and performed the Big Bang hit “Home Sweet Home” to an explosive response from the crowd, which sang along word-for-word in emotional unison.
The fashion-forward artist showed off several bold and iconic outfits, setting social media ablaze. Outfits included a mint green suit paired with a straw hat, a rose-embroidered jacket with leather pants, and his signature tweed jacket accented with lace. Adding to his sartorial arsenal was his striking silver hair with pink highlights. Merchandise for the tour also proved a massive hit, with lines circling the Tokyo Dome as fans rushed to get the limited-edition goods.
In-between performances, G-Dragon spoke fluently in Japanese, charming fans with his humility and humor. “Thank you for waiting 88 months for my comeback,” he said emotionally. He joked about his Big Bang bandmates, saying, “Taeyang and Daesung also toured in Japan recently—and they speak Japanese really well. But tell everyone I’m better!” eliciting laughter and cheers across the venue.
G-Dragon will continue his world tour with stops in Bulgan, Osaka, Macau, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Hong Kong, with more cities and dates to be announced.
‘G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Ubermensch]’ marks a next-level evolution of artistry in K-pop, blending performance, philosophy, and innovation, and reaffirming why G-Dragon remains a globally revered artist.
