From Pain to Power: Korean Star Shares Her Lupus Battle and 55kg Weight Loss Journey
A Korean celebrity and daughter of late iconic actress 고 최진실 has candidly shared her battle with lupus and the tremendous personal transformation that followed. She opened up via a heartfelt post about her past struggles with autoimmune disease, steroid use, and emotional eating that led her weight to peak at 96kg.
She recalled, “I used to eat five meals a day regularly due to high-dose steroids for lupus. At night, after lights out at the hospital, I would sneak to the convenience store and binge – six instant noodles, rice balls, chips, jelly, chocolate, and even ice cream. It was like shooting a mukbang video every night,” she wrote.
Despite warnings from nurses to avoid these trips, she shared she had neither the energy nor the mental strength to resist. “My body grew, my face changed, and I was sinking lower than rock bottom.”
But with perseverance and discipline, she lost an extraordinary 55kg, dropping to 41kg. “In that process, my skin cleared up, and one day I looked in the mirror and thought, ‘Whoa, not bad!’ It wasn’t just about looking good. I started loving myself again,” she explained, emphasizing how the weight loss was a personal reset.
She also previously made headlines for openly discussing her cosmetic surgeries, including double eyelid and nose procedures. Alongside her transformation, she addressed past trauma from an abusive ex-boyfriend who reportedly told her cruel things about her appearance. “He used to say things like, ‘You should be thankful I even date a girl with a body like yours,’” she revealed. In a twist of irony, that same ex commented on her glow-up reel months later after seeing her dramatic “before and after” journey.
“To the ex who cheated on me with another girl because he said I was fat – are you watching? Now, I look even better than her,” she shared, confidently owning her progress.
Ending her post on a high note, she said, “So many people say I look too skinny, but honestly, I’m genuinely happy and feeling healthy. Life has changed completely. Total reset.”
