ENHYPEN’s Sunghoon Appointed as Korea Sports & Olympic Committee Ambassador Ahead of 2026 Winter Games
Sunghoon, a member of the global K-pop group Enhypen, has been officially appointed as an ambassador for the Korea Sports & Olympic Committee (KSOC). The appointment ceremony was held on June 16 at the Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, marking a new chapter in Sunghoon’s multifaceted career.
Before his debut as a K-pop idol, Sunghoon was deeply immersed in the world of sports as a former national candidate in figure skating. His return to the sports scene, now as a public figure supporting athletic excellence and awareness, comes with deeper meaning and impact in anticipation of the 2026 Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics.
As an ambassador, Sunghoon will engage in campaigns to increase public interest in the upcoming Winter Olympics, promote the importance of recreational sports through talent-sharing initiatives, and help spread key messages around national sports policies. His appointment aims to bridge the gap between sports and pop culture, harnessing the power of stardom for public good.
“It’s an honor to serve as an ambassador for KSOC,” said Sunghoon at the ceremony. “Figure skating was a turning point in my life. The discipline and focus I built through my experience as a national-level athlete have directly shaped who I am today.”
He added, “While K-pop and sports are different worlds, both require relentless effort and are supported by passionate fans. I believe they share the same core values, and I’m excited to help spread the power and beauty of sports to a larger audience.”
Kim Na-mi, Secretary General of KSOC, shared her hope for Sunghoon’s new role: “We’re deeply excited to welcome ENHYPEN’s Sunghoon as an ambassador ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. As a former figure skater himself, he brings authenticity and energy. We look forward to seeing his efforts help unite the public in supporting our national athletes.”
In parallel to his ambassadorial duties, Sunghoon and ENHYPEN are set to release their sixth mini-album “DESIRE : UNLEASH” on July 5 – a project poised to capture both musical ambition and emotional depth from the group.
