Coupang Play’s SNL Korea Season 7 Dominates Comedy Scene with Breakout Stars
SNL Korea, Coupang Play’s flagship comedy show, is back with its seventh season, and it’s already taking the Korean entertainment scene by storm. Known for launching viral memes and hilarious guest-host chemistry, the show has solidified its rank as Korea’s top real comedy program.
Among the breakout stars this season are talented cast members who are receiving accolades from both fans and industry critics. Three standout performers—Lee Soo-ji, Kim Won-hoon, and Ji Ye-eun—have become the show’s ‘Big Three Pillars,’ captivating the MZ generation (Millennials and Gen Z) with their signature comedic chops.
Their rising popularity has landed all three nominees at the upcoming 61st Baeksang Arts Awards on May 5. Lee Soo-ji and Ji Ye-eun are both up for Best Female Entertainer, while Kim Won-hoon has received a nomination for Best Male Entertainer, highlighting their influence on the season’s success.
Lee Soo-ji shines in the fan-favorite segment “I’m Not Into It,” where she transforms into the character Ok-soon—a perfectionist mimic with striking visuals and quirky mannerisms. Her performance as Rosewyn Sestia in the segment “Who Stole the Heart of the Northern Duke?” showcased her range, portraying a graceful and enchanting lead opposite actor Yoon Kyung-ho.
Meanwhile, Kim Won-hoon takes center stage in the skit “Resignation Class: Hierarchy Wars,” playing an imaginative job-seeker who classifies coworkers by their possessions. He also excels in romantic parodies such as “Newlywed Diary” and more intense love scenes with celebrity guests like Kim Sa-rang and Seo Ye-ji—delivering bold yet comedic interpretations that have earned rave reviews.
Ji Ye-eun, best known for her viral persona from the “MZ Office” sketches, now transforms into a commanding young manager with ‘soft charisma’ in the new segment “Branch Manager On The Move.” Her ability to flip between comic tension and dramatic undercurrents makes her a viewer favorite.
In the skit “My Son-in-Law is Aging Too Fast,” Ji portrayed a compassionate girlfriend defending her prematurely aging boyfriend, earning praise for her clean and emotional performance. Her expanded presence across major Korean variety shows includes becoming a fixed member of the long-running hit Running Man.
The show has maintained its momentum over multiple seasons, even producing past winners of the Blue Dragon Series Awards. Season 7 continues that legacy, cementing SNL Korea as a consistent launchpad for comedic and dramatic talent.
Lee Soo-ji also stars in the upcoming series “Shinbyeong 3” as Sergeant Park Min-joo, illustrating her seamless shift into serious acting. Kim Won-hoon continues to showcase his versatility through projects like the award-winning YouTube comedy channel “Short Box.”
SNL Korea Season 7 airs every Saturday at 8 PM exclusively on Coupang Play. Live studio audiences can apply through Coupang’s invite-only fan program. Expect more laughs, more skits, and more stars—this season is just getting started.
