CJ ENM Unveils Ambitious Global Music Expansion Strategy at Mnet’s 30th Anniversary

South Korea’s entertainment giant CJ ENM marked the 30th anniversary of its iconic music channel Mnet with a bold leap into the global music scene, unveiling its strategic roadmap dubbed ‘Mnext: Worlds of Mnet Since 2025’. The exclusive event celebrated Mnet’s three decades of innovation while setting the tone for the company’s next phase in global music dominance.

At the heart of the presentation, Shin Hyung-kwan, Head of Music Content at CJ ENM, and Kim Ji-won, Head of the Mnet Plus Division, laid out the company’s vision for expanding globally through a three-pronged approach: global multi-label system, global production studios, and a robust platform ecosystem.

“This isn’t just an expansion—it’s an evolution,” Shin stated. The plan includes launching a new global music label, expanding K-POP-focused international content, and rolling out enhanced services on the fan-based platform Mnet Plus. CJ ENM aims to leverage its 30-year content production legacy and platform operations to stand at the forefront of the worldwide music industry.

Mnet Plus, CJ ENM’s fan engagement platform, boasts an impressive 27 million subscribers and 7 million monthly active users within just three years of its debut. It has amassed nearly 320 million votes across its interactive features, indicating strong user involvement and global appeal.

The platform plans to enhance its offerings throughout 2024 and beyond, including exclusive original content like “Hide and Seek”, concert VODs, and global festival coverage such as KCON and MAMA AWARDS. Additionally, Mnet Plus will introduce more interactive fan-oriented content like voting, real-time chats, and digital collectibles through services such as Plus Chat.

In April, CJ ENM is set to debut the beta version of Mnet Plus Merch, an e-commerce service combining online and offline sales of exclusive artist-related merchandise—further emphasizing their commitment to monetizing fandom culture globally.
