From Netflix Stardom to New Horizons

From ‘The Good Bad Mother’ to Cosmopolitan

Actress Chae Seo-an, known for her role in the Netflix original series The Good Bad Mother, recently shared insights on her post-show life and ambitions in an exclusive interview with Cosmopolitan magazine. The July issue, featuring her stunning photo shoot, was unveiled on the 23rd.

Reflecting on Her Role

Chae Seo-an portrayed the character “Park Young-ran”, a woman unloved by her husband, Hakssi Ajusshi, played by Choi Dae-hoon. Chae comments, “It feels like time has started to flow again. I’m grateful to see more people recognizing me, and my friends seem even happier than I am.”

Expectations and Reality

Reminiscing about the casting process, Chae reveals, “Whenever someone asked what I was working on, I’d mention my role and always add, ‘But I’m not in it much.’ Although I had high hopes when I received the casting offer for The Good Bad Mother, I still braced myself for whatever came next.”

Embracing Idle Times

Chae Seo-an discusses her evolving acting career and recent roles with Cosmopolitan magazine.

During the downtime after Good Bad Mother‘s filming, Chae considered taking a break from acting. “Being idle felt like I might stagnate or get lazy, so I found ways to stay active. Doing various jobs helped me, not just financially, but mentally as well.”

Preparing for New Projects

As she prepares for her next project, Chae reveals her script-selection criteria: “I consider the genre, character dynamics, and overall whether it’s engaging. I envision how it might look onscreen, too.”

Embracing Comedy

A fan of comedic films, she shares, “I truly enjoy lighthearted comedy like ‘White Chicks’. Of Korean cinema, I loved watching 30 Days starring Kang Ha-neul and Jung So-min. I often think, ‘How would I have acted in that role?’ and rewatch scenes to learn more.”

Season of Growth

Asked about what season she currently identifies with, Chae metaphorically describes herself as spring: “I’m like a bud ready to sprout post-winter, prepared to embrace the seasons ahead and grow once more.”

This charming and introspective actress undeniably draws us closer, as she plans her thrilling road ahead and continues to captivate both on and off the screen.
