Cha Eun-woo Auditions for South Korea’s Army Military Band Amid Throng of Celebrity Headlines

Multi talent Cha Eunwoo balances military duty preparation with Netflix drama and film roles

Cha Eun-woo, the singer-actor known for his multi-hyphenate career, has taken a critical step toward fulfilling his military duties. On June 9, his agency Fantagio confirmed that he had attended an interview for the Army Military Band. While the outcome of the audition remains unknown, results are expected to be posted on June 29 via the Military Manpower Administration’s website.

If accepted, Cha will begin basic training in July before serving actively in the Army Military Band. Despite this, he remains active — currently shooting for the new Netflix series The Wonderfuls and soon promoting his upcoming film First Ride, where he plays the role of Yeon Min.

Meanwhile, Korean broadcasting mourns the loss of television host Lee Sang-yong, better known as ‘Mr. Popo,’ who died of cardiac arrest at the age of 81. A graduate of Korea University ROTC and a former Army officer, he was a pillar of Korean variety shows from National Singing Contest and Stage of Friendship to Beautiful Life. His contributions brought him several honors like the National Medal of Honor Dongbaek Order and the Sports Merit Medal Girin Order.

On a more celebratory note, rapper True-di (real name Kim Jin-sol) shared joyous personal news: she is expecting her first baby. Taking to social media, she shared a photo of her baby’s ultrasound and shared that the couple has nicknamed the child ‘Golden Poop,’ mixing humor and affection.

True-di rose to fame after winning Unpretty Rapstar Season 2 in 2015, and has since released hits such as ALL KILL and Lonely, while also appearing on The King of Mask Singer and Hit the Top Girls. Her athlete husband Lee Dae-eun previously pitched for the Chicago Cubs, Chiba Lotte Marines, and Korea’s KT Wiz. Since retiring in 2022, he has appeared on JTBC sports shows like Strongest Baseball.

Elsewhere in wild celebrity news, 935 Entertainment, representing actor Namgoong Min, issued a statement warning the public of ongoing scams involving fake managers impersonating the agency’s staff. These frauds are reportedly targeting small businesses with false bulk order demands in the actor’s name.

Actor Byeon Woo-seok and singer Song Ga-in have also reported similar cases, with both agencies pledging legal actions. Meanwhile, Gold Medalist and actor Kim Soo-hyun have filed additional defamation lawsuits against YouTube channel operator Kim Se-u, over fake claims about an alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

Gold Medalist’s legal representatives from LKB&P Partners Law Firm called the allegations “ridiculous and malicious fabrications,” reaffirming their commitment to protecting Kim Soo-hyun’s reputation and pursuing all applicable legal consequences.
