BTS Members RM and Jimin Nominated as Solo Artists at the 2024 American Music Awards
RM and Jimin from global K-pop phenomenon BTS have been nominated as solo artists at this year’s American Music Awards (AMAs), marking a new milestone in their respective careers. According to the AMAs official website on April 23 (local time), both artists are competing in the Favorite K-Pop Artist category.
This marks the first time RM and Jimin have been nominated individually at the AMAs, signifying their growing global influence beyond group activities. BTS, known for breaking barriers and setting records, was the first winner of the newly introduced Favorite K-Pop Artist category back in 2022. That year, they also took home the Favorite Pop Duo/Group award, earning them two trophies.
BTS made their AMA debut in 2017 as the first Korean act to perform at the ceremony. In 2018, the group won Favorite Social Artist, signaling the start of a record-breaking journey. They went on to secure three awards in 2019, including Favorite Social Artist, Favorite Pop Duo/Group, and Tour of the Year. In 2020, they claimed wins for Favorite Social Artist and Favorite Pop Duo/Group once again.
The group’s domination continued in 2021 with wins in multiple categories, including the prestigious Artist of the Year, further cementing their legacy.
The American Music Awards is one of the three major music award shows in the United States, alongside the Billboard Music Awards and the Grammy Awards. It honors the most impactful and iconic artists of the year.
This year’s AMAs will take place on May 26 at 5 p.m. in Los Angeles.
