BTS Leader RM Nears Military Discharge with 50 Days Countdown
Fans of global K-pop phenomenon BTS were thrilled to receive a meaningful update from the group’s leader RM, who is currently serving his mandatory military duty in South Korea. With only 50 days remaining until his discharge, RM took to Instagram Stories on the 21st to share a photo that sparked excitement across fandoms worldwide.
The image, minimal in design but heavy in sentiment, was a screenshot from a popular Korean military discharge countdown app featuring the message, “50 days left until discharge! Have you planned your end-of-service vacation well?” The thoughtful post left fans buzzing with anticipation as they prepare for RM’s long-awaited return.
Having enlisted in December 2023, RM is expected to be officially discharged on June 10, 2024. Currently on the verge of taking his final military vacation, the BTS leader appears to be wrapping up his service with quiet reflection and continued connection to fans. Throughout his enlistment, RM has maintained an admirable presence online, sharing glimpses of his life and keeping ARMYs updated.
Earlier this year, in January, RM surprised fans with a series of personal photos taken during a leave, accompanied by a heartfelt caption that read, “I’ve been waiting just for you, 2025.” Fellow member J-Hope commented on the post, saying, “It’s the year of your discharge, Namjoon,” showing his support for the leader’s upcoming release from service.
RM isn’t the only BTS member approaching the end of military service. The eldest, Jin, and J-Hope completed their duties in June and October 2023, respectively. RM and V will both be discharged on June 10, followed closely by Jimin and Jung Kook on June 11. Meanwhile, Suga, who has been serving as a public service worker, is expected to complete his alternative service later in June.
As the countdown begins, the BTS fandom, known as ARMY, is preparing for what 2025 promises to be—a powerful comeback year for all seven members, reunited and ready to reclaim the global stage.
