BTS Jin Crowned ‘Donation Angel’ After Topping Global Idol Rankings

BTS Jin continues philanthropic work through UNICEF donations after STAR PLANET vote win

Jin of BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) continues to strengthen his reputation as a role model by winning first place in the global idol rankings on STAR PLANET and donating in support of underprivileged children through his fans’ support.

From April 1 to 15, Jin received a remarkable 139,516 votes on the globally-accessible fan platform STAR PLANET, securing first place in April’s idol rankings. These rankings allow fans to vote for their favorite stars, with the top-ranked idol triggering a charitable donation in their name to the UNICEF Korea Committee.

On May 1, STAR PLANET donated ₩1,000,000 (approx. $725 USD) to UNICEF Korea Committee in Jin’s name, aimed at supporting disadvantaged children domestically and internationally. This marks Jin’s fourth contribution through the platform, as he previously topped the idol rankings in March and August last year, as well as in the special ‘Comeback Star’ ranking in November. To date, the total amount donated in his name reaches ₩3.5 million.

This consistent generosity reflects Jin’s deep commitment to philanthropy. In 2019, he quietly became a member of the Honors Club, a group of major donors supporting UNICEF. Though he initially kept his donations private, his membership in the Honors Club was later publicly acknowledged to inspire others and amplify the positive message: “Good influence grows when shared.”

Beyond UNICEF, Jin has extended his kindness toward animal welfare organizations including KARA (Animal Rights Action KARA) and the Animal Freedom Coalition, and even donated ₩100 million to the Korea University Medical Center to aid people suffering from rare and incurable diseases in developing countries this past January.

In April, Jin volunteered to serve meals to wildfire victims at Gilan Middle School in Gilan-myeon, Andong, Gyeongbuk. He also donated ₩100 million to the Children’s Hospital at Asan Medical Center in celebration of Korea’s Children’s Day in May, once again demonstrating his limitless compassion.

Fans inspired by Jin’s humanitarian actions continue to participate in monthly votes and engage in various charitable efforts, establishing the BTS ARMY as a model fandom driven by positive influence.

Meanwhile, Jin will release his second mini-album “Echo” on June 16. The album comprises seven tracks rooted in band sound, with Jin contributing to much of the lyric writing, generating anticipation for his upcoming musical evolution.
