BTS Jimin’s Military Discharge Sparks Global Fan Celebrations in South Korea

BTS member Jimin receives special tributes from global fans for his military discharge in Korea

As BTS member Jimin is set to be discharged from the military on June 11, fans around the globe are celebrating with remarkable tribute events near his military base in Yeoncheon, South Korea.

One of the focal points of these celebrations is the collaboration by fan groups, starting with the ‘Jimin Conservation Society’ (박지민보존회), which launched bus wrapping advertisements on June 1. These specially designed buses will travel between Jeongok – Yeoncheon – Jimin’s military unit and will be on the road until June 30.

In a massive show of support, this group will also install 100 lamp post banners between May 30 and June 11. Another fan coalition, ‘Jimin Apple Music Team’, is teaming up with global communities like ‘PJM Hungary’ and ‘TEAM JIMIN AUSTRALIA’ to launch a 230-set lamp post banner campaign.

The Jimin Apple Music Team is taking it a step further by collaborating with U.S.-based fanbase ‘Park Jimin USA’ to hang large-scale welcome placards on both sides of Yeoncheon’s only pedestrian overpass. From June 5 to 11, the banners will carry heartfelt messages such as “We’ve been waiting for this day—Jimin is coming to catch us♡” and “We’re proud of you! Welcome back, Jimin!♡”, welcoming him home in both Korean and English.

An earlier project by the Jimin Apple Music Team involved the creation of the “Jimin Mini Bus Stop” project. They constructed a mini bus terminal near Jimin’s base and donated it to local soldiers and residents. Featuring yellow benches and clear bus signage, the station has been warmly received by the community and stands as a prime example of responsible fan support blending with local culture.

Meanwhile, Jimin’s stellar military service has been recognized on fan platform Weverse. Announced as a former NFA (Netpo Ace), he previously received commendation as top trainee, earned ‘Special Warrior’ status last June, and was granted an early promotion due to his exemplary conduct. All eyes are now on Yeoncheon as June 11 approaches—a symbolic date for ARMYs and fans worldwide.
