BTS Jimin’s ‘Lie’ Surpasses 260 Million Streams on Spotify, Cementing Its Status as a K-Pop Classic
BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) member Jimin has achieved another incredible milestone with his solo track ‘Lie’ on the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify.
Originally released in 2016 as part of BTS’s second full-length album Wings, ‘Lie’ has officially surpassed 260 million streams on Spotify as of April 26. This historic achievement follows ‘Lie’s’ earlier success in January 2023, when it became the first non-title track from Wings to reach 200 million streams, making it the 53rd BTS song to join the prestigious 200 million club.
‘Lie’ holds special significance for Jimin, who was deeply involved in writing and composing the track. The song samples ‘Spanish Dance No. 1’ from Spanish composer Manuel de Falla’s opera La Vida Breve, blending powerful classical melodies with Jimin’s rich, emotive vocals. Critics have hailed ‘Lie’ as a quintessential K-pop masterpiece.
Beyond streaming platforms, ‘Lie’ continues to resonate in popular culture. It was recently featured in the ballet-themed TV series Étoile, produced by renowned American creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Additionally, it was highlighted on Korea’s KBS Classic FM program Saengsaeng Classic, where it was praised as ‘a K-pop masterpiece’ cherished by fans worldwide.
Jimin’s enduring impact as a solo artist reaffirms BTS’s legacy in the global music scene, with ‘Lie’ standing as a testament to his artistry and emotional depth.
