BTS Jimin’s ‘Friends’ Surpasses 250 Million Streams on Spotify and Gains Global Acclaim
BTS member Jimin is once again making waves on the global music scene as his track ‘Friends’ has officially surpassed 250 million streams on Spotify as of May 21.
Originally featured on BTS’s fourth studio album, ‘Map of the Soul: 7’, ‘Friends’ showcases Jimin’s dynamic musical talents. He actively participated in the songwriting, composing, and producing aspects of the track. The song features autobiographical lyrics delivered with wit, paired with a light, gospel-infused melody, creating a soothing yet emotionally resonant listening experience.
Upon its release in 2020, ‘Friends’ quickly garnered critical acclaim. It became a nominee for Song of the Month (February) at the Gaon Music Awards, making Jimin the only BTS member to receive dual nominations that month — the second being for his solo hit ‘Filter.’ This acknowledgment cemented his status as an artist with remarkable musical prowess.
‘Friends’ later received Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), affirming its cross-cultural impact in both South Korea and Japan.
In 2021, the song attained another milestone by being officially featured in the ending credits of the Marvel Studios blockbuster ‘Eternals’. ‘Friends’ became the first Korean-language song to be included in a Marvel film’s end credits, sparking worldwide fan celebrations online. The viral recognition was further amplified when both Marvel Studios and the ‘Eternals’ official social media channels acknowledged the inclusion — a move that elevated its status as a historic moment in K-pop representation in global cinema.
Jimin continues to ascend as a solo artist, displaying creative leadership across his debut solo album ‘FACE’ and his upcoming sophomore release ‘MUSE’. His distinctive sound and deep involvement in production have earned him immense global praise and a dedicated fanbase.
With achievements that span music charts to Hollywood films, Jimin’s ‘Friends’ stands as a milestone not just in his own career, but also in K-pop’s growing global influence.
