BTS Jimin Becomes First Korean Soloist to Surpass 10 Million Equivalent Album Sales

Jimin of BTS makes history with 10 million equivalent album units sold worldwide

Jimin, member of global K-Pop sensation BTS (Bangtan Boys), has once again solidified his position as a powerhouse solo artist by reaching a historic milestone in the global music industry.

According to recent data compiled by music industry analysis site Chartmasters, Jimin’s debut solo album FACE and his follow-up MUSE have each surpassed 5 million in Equivalent Album Sales. This landmark achievement makes him the first and only Korean soloist to cross a combined total of 10 million units sold globally.

Equivalent Album Sales is a metric that encompasses traditional album sales, digital downloads, and streaming figures, providing a comprehensive measure of an artist’s music consumption. This method, used since 2013 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), is also applied by the Billboard 200 chart to determine album rankings.

Both of Jimin’s albums debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, marking the highest entry positions for a Korean soloist. Particularly, MUSE spent 34 weeks on the chart, establishing itself as the longest-charting K-Pop solo album in Billboard 200 history—further solidifying Jimin’s unmatched record of both the highest debut and longest-running Korean solo album on the said chart.

Global media outlets including the World Music Awards, Oneily Vibe, and Pop Core have reported on this record-breaking achievement, underlining Jimin’s unparalleled influence and legacy as a solo K-Pop icon.

As the first Korean soloist with multiple albums crossing the 5 million unit threshold, Jimin continues to redefine the global standards of success for K-Pop artists worldwide.
